In life, you’ll always meet a trendsetter. You know, that person at school or at work who’s always well dressed and seems to have their life together? They’re fabulous without even having to try and their outfits are always on point. Senior Josh Rashon is a trendsetter. From jean shirts to gold necklaces to round sunglasses, Rashon is always meeting the standards of high or street style fashion.
Rashon is very influenced by fashion and music. Fashion and music are both such important forms of expression. He describes fashion and music as being completely intertwined in his life. He believes that the fashion industry has helped define and shape pop culture dramatically over the past decades. Fashion didn't come as naturally to Rashon as music, but is as equally important in his life now.
When it came to fashion Rashon said it gave him confidence.
“I was always a shy kid, fashion gave me the confidence I need to over come my fear of crowds and being the center of attention.”
When it comes to music, Rashon claims he can be as creative and free as he wants.
“For me, music is my outlet for emotional expression. Every song that I write is connected to a point in my life. The great thing about music is that you can affect someone's life without knowing it. People you've never met can get to know you. Every song I write is like giving a piece of myself away,” said Rashon.
Rashon has been around music his entire life. His father and uncles were all performers. Growing up his father encouraged him and his brothers to express themselves through music. He didn’t get serious about music however until he was 13 and attended his first concert.
“The experience was so unrealistic and that's when I knew that music was the only career for me. I started writing and recording for myself, and it slowly became my therapy whenever I was going through life’s issues. “
When it comes to music, Rashon likes several genres. Some of his favorites are J. Cole, Sade, Journey, Maxwell, Chris Brown, George Michael, and Rihanna.

Rashon utilizes his unique style and fashion sense to define and shape the image he wishes to portray to the public.
When asked about a trend that really catches his eye at the moment, Rashon responded, “I'm really liking the whole distressed skinny jeans with oversized shirts and jackets. And the whole long length wear is really dope to me too.”
He really like Hermes, YSL, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hill figure, but as far as lower end brands, he likes H&M.
“My music and fashion go hand in hand together to give my listeners the full Josh Rashon experience.”
