The maxi skirt is a must for any closet. It is perfect for any occasion, whether you’re off to a date or a casual day strolling around the park. The maxi skirt is a must have for any Spring wardrobe and a timeless piece. It is the perfect definition for femininity and beauty. Think about it. When did the maxi skirt first appear?
In 17th century, women were wearing bodices over a long skirt with three underskirts. In the 1850s and 1890s, ladies were wearing a bustle under their skirts to increase the fullness around their hips and bottoms. Paul Poiret, a leading French designer for the first two decades of the 20th century, revolutionized women's dress by designing clothes that were more natural against the female form. He introduced the "hobble skirt", which was so long and fitted that the wearer could only take small steps when walking. This evolved into the walking skirt, a straight, off-the-ground skirt that allowed easier movement. In 1996, the term “maxi skirt” appeared in the form of long, bohemian skirts. What is a maxi skirt but a long skirt fitted to the body and comfortable for easy movement? The maxi skirt has literally been around forever. It has evolved into different shapes, colors, sizes, and material, but the idea still remains the same.
Our model shows off her black maxi skirt in a very chic, bohemian manner with a white Rolling Stones designed crop top tee, a jean shirt tied around the waist, and nude sandals. She adds a touch of jewelry to complete the look with a dangly gold necklace and a gold Michael Kors watch. For the finishing touch, she adds round glasses from Urban Outfitters to add that effect of coolness. She rocks the maxi skirt exceptionally and gives a perfect example of a relaxed, boho Spring outfit.
