With the arrival of a new season, new fashions emerge. Spring means the return of light, pastel, and bright colors. The runway has been hit with dazzling, emerging combinations of colors. Let’s take a look at some of spring’s most popular looks.
Zuhair Murad Spring 2016 is a must. It was considered one of the top shows and one of my personal favorites. His collection is filled with whites, pinks, creams, faded yellows, greens, blues, silvers, grays, and reds. His style is long, flowy dresses and flower- almost ancient Greece-like headbands. Flowers seem to be the central theme of the pieces, which of course, is perfect for spring. His collection was full of embroidery, many kinds of lace, organza, satin, sequins, and silver beads. He created the perfect fairytale effect with overflowing dresses and individually sewn on petals.
Another lovely and a perfect example of Spring was Elie Saab’s runway show. It began with white, embroidered and pattern designed dresses, then melted into silver grays, creams, and blues. The collection is very elegant and feminine. He combines sequins, embroidery, beads, and lace. Unlike the fairytale effect from Murad, Saab presents an exotic setting for his women. Saab claimed India was the backdrop and story for his collection. “India is her backdrop and her inspiration for a new blend of formalism and ease, opulence and elementary lines,” said his notes.
(Tulle skirts and wide legged pants seem to be all the rage on the runway and are included in both Saab’s, and Murad’s collections. For a tulle skirt or wide legged breezy material pants, go to a Forever 21 store at the mall).
Lastly, and my favorite, is Ronald van der Kemp’s Spring 2016 collection. His collection is a combination of grunge and feminism. His outfits bring the perfect edge and strength that every girl needs. From leather to gold to white lace to Victorian style dresses, Kemp brings everything to the table. Being a lover of black outfits, I like that he incorporates black into all of his outfits, but also a shock of color, whether it’s yellow or gold, in every other one. His collection really is a time portal into every era. You’ve got the 70s with wide legged pants, the 80s punk scene with black leather jackets, and your fashionable business woman working pants with a blazer. He brings spring a more decadent, darker vibe.
